The high-tech blog Engadget published details of one of the two tablets that Sony is preparing to release, previously announced as the S1.
“The S1 is officially called the Sony PlayStation Tablet S” Engadget says, adding that Sony “plans to release the device 9.4-inch (1280×768) in the first half of September.”
In April, the Japanese giant announced that the tablet S1 turn on the 3.0 version of Android, Google’s operating system, but Engadget says she will be driven by Android 3.1. Honeycomb and should go to Ice Cream Sandwich “when it arrives.”

The S1 is designed for media consumption, with its 9.4 inch screen, two cameras, its convex hull and design “off center” which lends itself well to extended views.
Engadget says that the S1 can connect to all domestic media devices, with WiFi built-in DLNA compatibility and its infrared transmitter.
The two shelves provide access to movies, music and books via the services and Qriocity Sony Reader Store.
Engadget did not have information on the second shelf from Sony, with two screens. The price of the terminals is also unknown, although the S1 was announced formerly $ 599.
It is difficult to predict whether Sony will hold its own hyper-market shelves. Its aircraft will not arrive until mid-September 2011.
HP recently announced its decision to withdraw from this segment, after its TouchPad (led by WebOS) failed to win in front of the Apple iPad 2 and its rival Android (developed by LG, HTC, Motorola , Samsung and Archos).
Ironically, U.S. consumers throw themselves on the TouchPad since HP announced its liquidation for $ 99.99 (originally $ 499.99 against).
